Job Summary:
The Architectural Technician will play a crucial role within the Architecture department, supporting the design and development of architectural projects. This position requires a high level of technical expertise and proficiency in architectural design principles, construction methods, and building codes. The Architectural Technician will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of projects in line with client requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare accurate and detailed architectural drawings, plans, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
2. Assist in the production of architectural design presentations, including 2D and 3D visualizations, renderings, and models.
3. Conduct thorough site surveys and assessments to gather relevant data for project planning and development.
4. Collaborate with architects to develop and refine architectural designs, ensuring compliance with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including drawings, schedules, and technical specifications.
6. Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers to gather project-related information and resolve any technical issues that may arise during the construction phase.
7. Review and evaluate contractor submittals, shop drawings, and product samples for compliance with project specifications.
8. Conduct regular site visits to monitor project progress, identify design discrepancies, and provide technical guidance to construction teams.
9. Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and building regulations to ensure compliance and incorporate best practices into architectural designs.
10. Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence, in accordance with established procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or related field.
2. Proven experience as an Architectural Technician or similar role in an architectural firm or construction company.
3. Strong proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or ArchiCAD.
4. Proficient in architectural visualization software, such as SketchUp, 3ds Max, or Rhino.
5. In-depth knowledge of architectural design principles, construction techniques, and building codes.
6. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and translate complex design concepts into practical architectural solutions.
7. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing architectural drawings and documentation.
8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
9. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Familiarity with sustainable design principles and energy-efficient building practices is desirable.
